The “Bach Factory” is a video series by the J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen that gives you interesting insights into Bach’s cantatas – including exclusive excerpts from their live performance.
Johann Sebastian Bach wrote cantata BWV 61 «Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland» for the first Advent Sunday. It anticipates the spiritual event of Christmas – the birth of Jesus. With a magnificent French ouverture, J. S. Bach rolls out the carpet for the little child Christ. So how does Bach’s music express the excitement for Christ’s arrival and capture His presence? Xoán Elías Castiñeira and Rudolf Lutz explore the cantata and help us understand its magic.
The concert recording, introductory workshop and reflective lecture (in German) are available at Bachipedia.
